A salary figure tells only part of the story. Across CEE and Adria, the same annual gross remuneration can translate into significantly different net pay for the employee – and a very different total cost for the employer.

The gap between what the employer pays and what the employee receives – the tax wedge – differs considerably from one country to the next, and the differences increase as salaries rise. For compensation planning, mobility decisions and 2027 workforce budgets, the country of employment is therefore as relevant as the salary level itself.

In two focused regional sessions, our experts will put the numbers side by side and explain what drives them: income tax rates, mandatory social security, contribution caps and country-specific exemptions. We will also cover the latest developments for 2026 and what employers should prepare for, from remuneration design and employee benefits to termination payments. The sessions cover different countries, so please register for the session(s) relevant to you.

Who should attend:

HR, reward and mobility professionals, payroll and tax specialists, and finance leaders responsible for employment costs.

What you will learn:

  • Regional cost comparison – employer cost, gross salary and employee net pay at selected remuneration levels, and the main reasons for the differences between countries
  • Trends and latest tax updates – key 2026 income tax and social security
developments and what they mean for employment costs and payroll administration
  • Specific remuneration items – bonuses, benefits in kind, company cars, allowances, termination and non-compete payments, and when contractor arrangements may be reclassified as employment
